Step 1: In a large bowl, with a hand mixer at slow speed, mix the butter, flour, sugar, egg, molasses, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.
Step 2: Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Step 3: Preheat oven to 350°F.
Step 3: On a lightly floured surface, working with half of the dough at a time, roll 1/8 inch thick. With floured cookie cutters, cut dough into shapes. Using a metal spatula or pancake turner, place cookies 1/2 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Re-roll trimmings and continue to cut shapes. Remember to cut the right amount of cookies to keep your dose consistent to what you set in the calculator.
Step 4: Bake for 8 minutes, or until lightly browned. Transfer cookies to racks to cool completely.
Step 5: To make the icing take the sugar, milk and egg whites and beat it until thick but able to pass through a piping bag or squirt bottle. If it is too thick add more milk gradually.
Step 6: Have fun decorating the cookies however you want!
